Creators @home | Educarers overview | Sarah Maindonald
North Oamaru, Oamaru, Otago
Kia ora, my name is Sarah. I’m a Mum to 3 great children and Aunty to some awesome nieces and nephews. I have been a home based Educarer for 9 years and have also offered care through after school programmes in the past. I offer a warm and loving home environment, where children are encouraged to be themselves and discover what their mind and bodies are capable of doing, within a play-based learning programme. I have experience working with children who have physical and mental disabilities, supporting them to develop a sense of belonging in their care environment and fostering warm, reciprocal relationships with other children. I plan my learning programme around the principles and strands of Te Whāriki, New Zealand’s ECE curriculum, setting learning goals for my tamariki in consultation with whānau and providing them with a variety of learning experiences and activities catering to their current skills and interests. We also attend regular playgroups in Oamaru and frequently take trips to our local parks and playgrounds for the children to explore the natural environment and make links with our wider community.
Activities I provide
- Creators' weekly playgroup
- Oamaru library story times
- Outings to local parks, playgrounds and gardens
- Weekly music and movement sessions on a Tuesday and Wednesday.
