Home | Our Story

The world is made up of stories. Stories from the past. Stories about who we are. Stories about what the future might be. We all have our own. It is what makes us who we are. We too have a story. It is a collection of many diverse, unique and heartfelt moments that have come together to form one story.  Our story.

Here at Creators, we are passionate about seeing tamariki unique talents being recognised and nurtured. We believe tamariki nurtured in an environment filled with a positive presence, surrounded by passionate adults, will be filled with the sense of wonder and joy that will help them flourish through life.

We believe that tamariki feel loved and valued when their identity is securely fixed in love and encouragement.

From this foundation, tamariki feel confident to explore, learn and discover. Every tamaiti is a genius in their particular gifting and talent.  Our role as kaiako is to discover and nurture this in order for the tamaiti to reach their full potential.

Creators is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. We create a culture of innovative learning, through pedagogical research and implementation of the inquiry based approach to early childhood education. The Reggio Emilia preschools have been recognised as some of the greatest preschools in the world.  We are excited to support this approach in our organisation, setting a new standard in the industry.

Our kaiako are all well trained, passionate and well supported. By setting up a rich learning environment, as well as using the environment as a learning resource, tamariki are able to experience and test out their knowledge in a meaningful context. Kaiako respond to individual interests, foster creativity and inquiry to create a very responsive and authentic learning experience. We believe this can be achieved through a holistic approach to learning, which means a well-able and balanced tamaiti would have had the following areas nurtured:

Our Philosophy

STRONG, LOVING RELATIONSHIPS ARE THE FOUNDATION FOR A JOYFUL LIFE

Through reciprocal and respectful relationships between kaiako, tamariki and whānau and upholding the principles of ako, manaakitanga, tuakana-teina and whakawhanaungatanga, tamariki feel safe to live a life of active exploration, problem solving and risk taking to make meaning of the world around them.

TAMARIKI ARE UNIQUELY CREATED, FULL OF WONDER AND POTENTIAL, CAPABLE OF CONSTRUCTING THEIR OWN KNOWLEDGE

Every tamaiti is a miracle from God, created uniquely with an extraordinary wealth of inborn abilities and gifts. We believe tamariki are rich in potential, competency, intelligence, creativity and strength.

Therefore, tamariki are active contributors and protagonists in their journey of making sense of this world through relationships, exploration and active research. With kaiako recognising and nurturing their individual strengths and interests, this provides the tamariki with positive disposition to learning and will help to develop and nurture them as lifelong learners.

A CULTURE OF INNOVATIVE LEARNING IN THE CLASSROOM WILL PROVIDE A RICH EDUCATION EXPERIENCE FOR TAMARIKI IN OUR CARE

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, we create a culture of innovative learning, through pedagogical research and implementation of the inquiry based approach.

Staff are carefully selected, ensuring they value the talents and uniqueness of every tamaiti.  Our kaiako see value in creative thinking and processes, inquiry based education and pedagogical research. We value ongoing learning and professional development for kaiako and the extended community.

TAMARIKI DESERVE AN ENVIRONMENT FILLED WITH WONDER AND BEAUTY

We see the environment in the classroom as the ‘third teacher.’ Our objective is to provide a beautiful learning environment which advocates for the positive view we have of tamariki. Our spaces are intentionally created to invite tamariki to explore and interact with the wonder of creation. This includes providing open-ended materials and resources for tamariki to freely investigate, fostering an environment of creativity and innovative thinking.

OUR NATURAL SURROUNDINGS ARE AN INTEGRAL RESOURCE FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD. TAMARIKI SHOULD HAVE AMPLE OPPORTUNITY TO INTERACT WITH A VARIETY OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENTS, FOSTERING A LOVE AND RESPECT FOR PAPATŪĀNUKU

Providing tamariki with a wide variety of natural resources and outdoor environments will aid in developing a strong and healthy mind, body, soul and spirit. Nature provides a rich learning platform, engaging all their senses and invites tamariki to wonder about the world in which they live. We aim to use these real-world experiences to either initiate or contribute to learning in the classroom while encouraging tamariki love and appreciation for God’s creation and papatūānuku.

IT IS OUR PRIVILEGE TO RESPECT THE UNIQUE POSITION OF MĀORI AS TANGATA WHENUA IN AOTEAROA/NEW ZEALAND

We encourage an awareness and appreciation of the bi-cultural heritage of our country. We support the Treaty of Waitangi and the use of Te Reo Māori as a living language. We believe this fosters a healthy world view for children forming the basis for an empathetic society.

ALL TAMARIKI NEED TO BE TREATED WITH LOVE, HONOUR AND RESPECT, LEARNING TO MONITOR THEIR OWN BEHAVIOUR AND GROW TO LOVE THEMSELVES AND OTHERS IN A SAFE, WARM AND SECURE ENVIRONMENT

We believe that tamariki are capable of solving their own conflicts at times, and that adults can model empathetic strategies, language and skills for them to do so. Through doing this, tamariki learn valuable intra and inter-personal skills, allowing them to become confident members of society.

IT IS A PRIVILEGE TO PARTNER WITH WHĀNAU IN RAISING THEIR TAMAITI. THEIR EDUCATION AND WELL-BEING IS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY, UPHOLDING THE PRINCIPLE OF WHANAUNGATANGA

We see whānau as partners in learning, both with their tamariki and with the kaiako. We value the ideas and skills that whānau bring to the learning environment and invite them to actively participate in the life of our centre.

Our Heart

Every tamaiti is a miracle and we are passionate about seeing their unique talents grow at Creators. We see that when tamariki are loved and valued they feel confident to explore, learn and discover. Our role as kaiako is to nurture each tamaiti and to appreciate their sense of wonder in the world, through cultivating a rich and supportive learning environment of shared discovery, connection and love.

Our wonderful learning environments allow tamariki to experience the world and test their boundaries in meaningful ways. We have a four-pillar learning model behind our education to help each tamaiti reach their full potential.
